A series of graphics created for a video essay about the game SOMA by Frictional Games, in which science fiction horror intertwines with philosophical reflection on the nature of consciousness and identity. The essay takes the viewer from ancient paradox of Theseus' ship, through the reflections of Locke and Baudrillard, to transhumanist questions about mind copies, simulation and the limits of humanity.
The graphics draw on the aesthetics of glitch art: digital interference, noise and deformations become a visual reflection of the impermanence of life, a story about copying and the creation of successive versions of oneself.
